A ma mère...
J ' ai allongé ton corps dans la terre ,
Enseveli d ' amour , recouvert de larmes ,
Je t ' ai simplement habillé de prières ,
Laissant entrevoir la mère , la femme .
Je vivrai dans le secret de tes yeux ,
Jusqu ' à ce que ma vie atteigne les cieux ,
Je boirai les larmes de ton corps ,
Ma vie durant jusqu ' à ma mort .
Comment rétablir l ' ordre de tes souvenirs ,
Je n ' entends que le chant de l ' hirondelle ,
Je la vois se sauver , puis revenir ,
Elle me dit : " Viens rejoindre mon ciel " .
Tu me manques .....Maman ,
Je ne sais plus comment sourire maintenant ,
Ce n ' est plus comme avant ,
Je ne sais plus comment conjuguer le présent .

J ' ai laissé mes amis suivre d ' autres chemins ,
De ceux qui mènent loin , sans ramener à Rome ,
J ' ai jeté nos hiers , j ' ai tué nos demains ,
Lorsque l ' adolescence a voulu faire de moi un homme .
J ' ai laissé des amis , hélas ! Mourir aussi ,
Là - bas , si loin de moi , que le temps passe vite ! ,
La mort leur a fait prendre un raccourci ,
Et dans mes souvenirs , ma larme les invite .
Faudra - t - il que je laisse sur le chemin ,
Les morceaux d ' aujourd ' hui et à mon coeur si tendre ,

Un jour que le poète Hmed Wehmed , né en 1880 a Tizi - Mlal ( Ait - Ouacif ) , s ' est embarqué a la recherche d ' un emploi outre - méditerranée , le navire faillit couler avec ses passagers . Le capitaine du navire fit retentir la sirène d ' alarme et distibua des gilets de sauvetage . Notre poète , qui fut un disciple fidèle du Cheikh soufi Mohand Oulmokhtsar , composa le poème qui suit :
